Pleased to meet you. Hope you’ve guessed my name.

THE MOUNTAIN CULTURE BREWERY in Katoomba does a good line in fancy and not-so fancy beers. The product range runs a spectrum from the merely middle class upward: there are the bourgeois tins for sinking, there are the really very nice cans you'd leave for a special occasion, and there are the limited-release beers that leave you wondering what on earth you'd do to accompany it, apart from have a lie down.

Majestic Haze is somewhere at the higher end of this scale. This is the beer Pierre Bourdieu would drink in a tie-dyed t-shirt in a beer garden somewhere on the east coast, on a backpacking year.
